Safe Families Informational Zoom Meeting

April 13, 2021 7:00pm

Safe Families for Children is a ministry of East Hill Church Family. Safe Families for Children collaborates with both community partners and government agencies to identify families that may benefit from our model. At the same time, we build relationships with faith communities to identify people who want to live out Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves through the Safe Families model. We call on these followers of Christ to put their faith into action in ways large and small, from welcoming children into their homes to providing help of various kinds to the children’s parents. Together, we are all changing the story in positive, hope-filled ways for children and their families.

Safe Families for Children is a faith-based community services movement that:

1. Serves vulnerable, isolated families in crisis situations that may lead to abuse and/or neglect,

2. Wraps a circle of support around those families, creating extended family-like relationships,

3. Prevents children from entering the foster care system and, therefore,

4. Helps keep families together.

Families in our neighborhoods are in need of a relational circle of support – an extended family. This is what Safe Families for Children is all about. It is a model for equipping our church community to reach out and connect with isolated families with hospitality. We are talking biblical hospitality – “the love of a stranger”.

In order to be prepared to serve families in crisis, we are inviting our church community to learn how they can surround vulnerable children and their families with caring relationships. Safe Families for Children is a way to create extended family-like relationships around isolated families in our community. Visit www.safefamiliespdx.org to learn more.

Join others from the East Hill family interested in learning more and developing our Safe Families Ministry at a virtual information meeting on Tuesday, April 13th at 7pm.
